Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great activity I have ordered these owl pellets for years. I have always been pleased. It is a favorite activity for my students. However, this year I ordered 12 pellets, but got 10. Several of the pellets were quite small. One pellet was so dry it just completely fell apart. I was reimbursed for the 2 pellets that did not come. I will order again because this was the first "not so great" batch of owl pellets I received.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Owl Pellet Dissection I bought 50 of the large owl pellets for a 3rd grade field trip at our Science Center. They were what I was expecting, quick shipping, and just what I expected and hoped for. There were more than one animal skeleton found in each pellet which was great for the students to compare and contrast bones of the prey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always great quality products! I buy these pellets every year for our grade level. They are high quality, and easy for the students to identify the skeletons found inside. The students love this activity, and talk about what they learned from it for the rest of the school year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dissappointed Teacher who uses these every year reports that the quality this year was not good. Much smaller and VERY tough. We may have to look for new vendor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Product I bought these for a dissection with my class and although some of the pellets were a little smaller than I was expecting most groups found at least 1 skull and all the groups were able to find many bones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great hands on learning! Our first grade used this as a culminating activity to one of our reading domains. We talked about the importance of food, shelter, and water. This was a great hands on activity for the children to see an owl's adaptation to digestion. We ordered the small owl pellets. I didn't realize they were much smaller than I had initially thought. We had a couple of pellets that had minimal bones and had to use another pellet to provide the full experience. I realize the company doesn't know what is in each pellet and some had many more bones than others. I recommend purchasing the larger pellet size, but I would definitely order owl pellets again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from big in size I bought these for my son to use as an example during a project presentation. They all had tiny skeletons inside and the pellets were large in size. His classroom was pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pellet I dissected this in December last year, it smelled, but was good. 4 mice were in the pellet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Size of owl pellets Some times the owl pellets come too small for kids to really find sometime. If you would please send them average size, not tiny (bigger than 2 cm in both length and width)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent experience My seven year old granddaughter and I worked on one of the large owl pellets for about an hour. We found a total of four complete skulls. Numerous pelvic bones as well. Many numerous smaller bones like vertebrae as well. I could see higher level student spending many hours identifying and grouping bones together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large Owl Pellets This product is great if your class is studying food chains. The large owl pellets have a lot more interesting things to discover compared to the small owl pellets. Well worth the extra price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Small for the price I have purchased this product for many years, and the size and quality were well worth the price. This year, the large pellets were the size of the small ones, most between 3-4 cm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent hands-on lesson for many age groups I use this product with 1st graders after teaching them about bird beaks and then focusing on owls. Before dissecting the pellets, I use a poster showing the two stomachs of an owl and teach them how the pellet is made. They love that! The large pellets make it easy for the students to pull them apart. I have found that 99% of the pellets have good skulls for the students to recognize, along with the jaws and other bones. We make a graph together for how many skulls and jaws we find, then discuss why there are more jaws than skulls. Awesome lesson!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Owl Pellets These owl pellets were great for the students to dissect as they were not difficult to pull apart, and the students were able to find quite a few bones and skulls (which got them excited).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pellets have promise! These pellets are wonderful to work with especially when combined with the Owl Pellet Dissection Mat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fair price for the quality. The pellets were rather small. But, fit the bill for a whole class investigation. When you are purchasing 30 pellets for entire class, cost is a big consideration. These pellets worked fine for a lower elementary class.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun activity Students can find bones of different types of animals in pellets. The instructions and lab questions that come with Carolina products are great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic! We ordered a couple of these along with a larger mini kit. These pellets were educational and captivated my students attention. Two pellets were very dark and difficult to dissect. There were directions included in our other kit on what to do to make it easier in this case. We chose not to soak them. Found several skulls and critter bones in each pellet. It took us two sessions of hours to complete.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pellets! I recently used these pellets in my class. The students were totally engaged and it really helped reinforce some of the food web lessons we had been learning about. Good quality pellets for a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large Owl Pellet Review We used these owl pellets recently as part of our animal study unit for ages 4-12. The students absolutely loved dissecting them and we found great bone samples in every single pellet. I couldn't be happier! We will definitely order these again in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Affordable owl pellets Owl pellets are one of my favorite activities. I used these pellets with 7th grade students. Budget would only allow the purchase of the small pellets. Even with the small pellets though some complete skeletons were extracted. If you are shopping on a budget these are high quality affordable pellets.
